2008 abstracts Trapped Plastic

This plastic has been stuck in this tree outside my office window for

months. A co-worker wanted to get someone to take it down but I told

her it was an art piece. I finally photographed it blwing in the wind

with afternoon sun.

The white bag works well against those dark branches, in combination with the tension from the wind this darkness gives rise to a feeling of sinister entrapment. As if the bag were a fair maiden in a white dress with arms outstretched and head bowed. The tree being one of the fairy tale variety which reach out with all encompassing limbs to ensnare passers-by.

Your co-workers wish to tidy up and remove the bag is a classic example of how one persons trash can be another persons art.
