it takes a very good photographer to get down to the essentials in order to achieve the maximum of quality and that's what you did here. I wouldn't hesitate for a second putting this one on my wall. You did really great here. By no means meant as a criticism but I think this one would look great in b&w too.

Shahram, Jef, Joseph, Kaushik,

Thanks for your attention and comments. I appreciate them very much.

Ton,

Although I am sure I do not deserve your compliments, I confess that they made me feel better. :) I have tried a B&W version earlier, by the way (it is on display elsewhere). I somehow think that this one is better at least in suggesting the warmth of the sun. Thanks very much for your contribution.

Very well composed, clean and attractive image. The shadows and the linear qualities are compelling and well seen. Congrats rek

Never did I think a photo of a lamp post would make an interesting subject, let alone grab my attention. But this particular image is outstanding for its purity, tones, textures, composition and stillness. To me, it resembles a lone woman waiting for the date who won't turn up - she's been stood up but she still hopes he'll come. Her back is straight despite the disappointment, she keeps her pride, she won't let anyone know her despair. The lone lamp post awaits to come alive at night - when lit up, it will radiate and shine on the passers-by, like the woman will if only he came to offer her his arm for a walk. Very sexy photo for a somewhat ordinary object - well done!

PS - Thanks for your comment on my latest photo.

Good composition and sense of geometry, well controlled and good light. Simple and beautiful picture.

Thanks to all PN members who have visited this photo and left comments. Your words are very much appreciated.

This photo reminds of the fact that "photography is not about objects; it is about light".

The frozen pond was reflecting the light of a low sun here. The entire scene looked different and ordinary when I walked only a few steps forward or backward.

The lesson I learned:

A good photographer should always be on the move, mentally and physically :)

I know this is an older photo of yours, but I can't believe I did not comment on it earlier.  Striking and graphic.  It was educating to read your comment about how stepping a little bit forward or back would have commpletely changed the look of this scene.  A good point to remember.
