oxymor0n 2 Posted February 24, 2008 I bet it only takes you 5 seconds to have a closer look at this shot and hope it lasts a little bit longer before you forget it :)important: this is a new version of yesterdays shot, which earned critique as to have to less DOF. which one do you think is better?? please leave a short comment, it would really help me thanks for your time, Patrick Link to comment
jackiederuyter 0 Posted February 24, 2008 I like this version of the shot better. They are both nice but this depth of field seems to work better. I like the crisp reflection of the trees, and the branches that just peek in from the edges of the frame give the image even more interest. Very nice! Link to comment
clayton_berg 0 Posted February 24, 2008 I like this one better, I don't see a need to have anything out of focus. This works very well, great forground details and great tonality. Very well done. Link to comment
oxymor0n 2 Posted February 24, 2008 Jacquelin, thank you for your words, I'm glad you like this shot and thank you for letting me know what makes this shot stand out in your opinion. greets, patrick Link to comment
oxymor0n 2 Posted February 24, 2008 thank you Clayton, when looking at both I second your opinion, the strong out of focus range was just an idea when taking this shot to make it look more 3-dimensional, but I did kinda overkill to reach my aim :) Link to comment
chrisalmerini 0 Posted February 24, 2008 My feeling is that #2 is slightly better. The opinion that matters most is yours. Glad to see you try and gives us a choice. As for your comments about the cropped deer- shot was from a moving car as we were leaving a morning shoot at a State Park in NC. Also, that is about a 130% crop off the original. I had my 18-200 lens, but not much time to set up in the moving car. Thanks for the comment. Chris Link to comment
marian1 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Now we are talking! Great job! This time 7/7;) REgards! Link to comment
oxymor0n 2 Posted February 24, 2008 Chris and Marian, thank you very much for coming back to check out this 2nd attempt and letting me know what you think about it. I am truly glad for getting the chance to learn here on PN and next time there's one thing less that I could do wrong when going out and pointing my cam at some wood :) greets, patrick Link to comment
BelaMolnar 2 Posted February 24, 2008 O.K. Patrick. It is a hell of a different image, then the first posted one. It is really nice now. The composition was o.k. in the first image, but this is a big improvement. Bravo. 7/7 Cheers; Bela Link to comment
oxymor0n 2 Posted February 25, 2008 hehe thanks Bela, I really do value your words and compliment and I'm more than happy that my new approach does appeal to all of you, barely never had so much positive response and it's good for my oppressed soul ;) Link to comment
aslavihervuori 0 Posted February 25, 2008 I think this, more dof version, is a lot better. There was not enough interesting subjects IN focus on the other version. So I think the Whole frame deserves to be sharp. To me, this photo works through all different subjects, rather than one or two. ...and perhaps also through imperfect symmetry. Nice composition, good tonality. I like this a lot. No ratings, since I do not them anymore. a s l a Link to comment
oxymor0n 2 Posted February 25, 2008 Asla, thanks for viewing, comparing and enjoying this two photos. thank you for taking the time to write a personal comment and letting me know your thoughts and ideas.kindest regards, Patrick btw. why don't you rate anymore? doubts about the rating system on PN? aslavihervuori 0 Posted February 26, 2008 About ratings and comments: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5794894 I have not been lately much in PN, just because lack of free time. For me it is more valuable to give and get verbal feedback about photos. Ratings do not give any ideas how to improve photo or one's photography. Nowadays I give perhaps one comment (rather than five to ten rates) about photo that strikes me in "good" or "bad". And if I think I would have ideas to share with photographer, I share them. I am here to get give and get ideas, opinions, constructive critique... ...you know what I mean, common wellfare! Take care, a s l a Link to comment
