I've no complaints with this either. I think you maybe could have improved it by going all the way down to the water's edge and then shooting it; it would have taken the bank on the right out of the scene. However, your exposure is spot-on, and your composition is very good. You are totally gettin' it here; keep it up! Cheers! Chris

Good composition (use of the shoreline) and excellent exposure. The reflection in the still water works beautifully. I think it could be improved by cropping the sky to just above the mountain on the left edge. This would lose some of the blue sky, raise the level of the far shoreline more on a third and give a better visual balance between the dark foreground (right)and the dark background (left). I'd boost the color saturation a little (maybe just red and yellow). Also clone out some of the small rocks in the lake off the shoreline. Still it's a very nice shot, with plenty of atmosphere. Regards, Keith

To Chris and Keith,

Is this better? I think so, although it doesn't really achieve the 1/3 composition you were speaking of, Keith. I don't have a tool that can remove 'junk' in my photos, so I'm really working with a primitive program. So I just brought up the bottom of the picture to get rid of the clutter on the bank. I came in a bit on the right side too. When I came in too much the picture looked out of balance to me. My saturation level doesn't allow me to control the colors, so I could only do a little here as well. I see that I am definitely going to have to 'get with the program' and learn a better editing program. Just wondering though....does the photo look a little lopsided to you now? Thanks for your input!!

This looks just fine! Don't monkey with it any more; it is just right. Actually, I think you've achieved a pretty uniques and satisfying balance with this now. Your composition naturally funnels the eye to the far-off mountain range on the horizon. Hey, Kiddo; you're gonna have a blast down here in the desert with your camera. The wildflower bloom timing is looking better and better for you! Cheers! Chris

How beautiful the glow of the clouds are on the water. The way you re-did the photo looks just perfect to me. This is a show stopper I think!

Thanks to all for your input. Each time I've submitted a photo for critique, I've been able to improve the shot from the suggestions I've received. What a way to learn!

This is lovely in colors and composition. It guides the eye to where the sources of the color is. Kieth is right. This picture as is is attractive. I did not see if you had a previous version. Thanks for sharing. Regards ifti
