whydangle 0 Posted February 23, 2008 Sunlight rakes across the treetops in an apparent fall scene. Look closely at the new growth. It is the coming of the second season of the year. The spring buds of this forest display many colors other than green. Thanks for taking a look and enjoy the detail of a larger view. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Geez, this is subtle and really beautiful. You are so right; so many people would go by this thinkin' that it is a fall colors shot. I like the distinct details of the skeletal trees. Interesting, Mark; that this makes a superb bookend to the fall colors shot that you posted a week or ten days ago that was taken from the road and looking across the draw (spring forward, fall back). Really terrific light in this one. (I was up in your neighborhood today with the camera; well, a little west of you) Cheers! Chris P.S. Who in the name of God, would give this a 3/3? It is easy to lose one's faith in humanity... Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks Chris. I'm happy to see the 3/3. It lets me know this is not for everybody. It doesn't change my mind though. I still enjoy this as one of my most satisfying images to look at. Its just a wash of colors and patterns that compliment each other. The detail is intense and the concept is somewhat abstract, but with purpose. Not everyone would appreciate this because it does not contain any of the cliche or trite elements we so often see on P.N. I like to listen to solo piano instrumentalist play new age jazz. I have only met a few other people who share that interest in music. It is great to be different and unique. If everyone else liked this, I probably could not appreciate it as much. Thank you 3/3 as well. Your lack of taste only makes this look better in my eyes. OK, back to you Chris. I hope you got some good ones. The sky in Bakersfield was looking pretty nice while my wife and I were working on our taxes. Sorry we could not get together. I hope next time!!! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted February 24, 2008 The wife and I got our taxes done a few weeks ago; we scored from the federales; and I owe Ahnold about $500. The windfall from the feds is paying for my wife's cruise with her sisters. Can you believe it; they're not taking any of the bubbies with 'em (ten days in the southern Caribbean). Guess I'm just gonna have to buy a new tripod and new ball head on the credit card...Heh, heh! Let me know what you think of my new offerings, Mark. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
paolo de faveri 1 Posted February 24, 2008 I rated this 7/7 Mark, but if you prefer a 3/3 next time, just let me know... :-) You know, It bothers me to be considered part of the herd... ;-D Jokes apart: this shot displays some excellent graphic features, the grainy texture is great and the soft contrast produced by the low sun kissing the top of the trees is just wonderful. I can clearly imagine this printed big and hanged. Great job! Paolo Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted February 25, 2008 Great shot Mark... It made me pause and consider how many times I've groaned and passed up a shot because it was after peak. Thanks for sharing... Mike Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Thank you Paolo and Michael. No more 3/3s please unless it is accompanied with a coherent critique. I have never dished out a 3/3. If that is my conclusion, I just move on to something better. That rarely happens to me anyway on P.N. Michael, this would be well before peak because it is a spring image, or perhaps I misunderstand your comment. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted February 25, 2008 Mark, you can title my comment "After Obtuse" :-) and then substitute the word "before" in lieu of "after". What can I say... it's Monday or "After Weekend"! Mike Link to comment
