The contrast between both expressions are the axis of this beautiful composition. The smile and confidence of the youth with her lovely gaze, and the extraordinary back ground with a mother taking care on her daughter, she has no confidence, she has fear because the future of her child, like every mothers in the whole world I should say, but I guess that those emotions are more disturbing in the Middle East. Anyway, I am so impressed not only for the expression of the mother but her beauty, because she is very beautiful indeed.

On the other hand the framing is very accurate, heads in diagonal and both right hands expressing exactly the same than her faces. Chapeau for you Meir, what a series.
