snapshooter 0 Posted February 18, 2008 Thanks again, Jim....and thank you Joseph. I had a full week of these skies, spread over a number of States. Thought it was very unusual but I certainly took advantage wherever/whenever I could. The exposure was metered on sky only and the entire foreground is very dark, almost black. HDR recovered the foreground with a click. From what I've been reading recently, it may not be long before we see it built into new cameras with Microsoft's new JPEG XR(extended range) format. It's already available as a plug-in for Photoshop CS2 and CS3 users (Free). Here's the Microsoft link for anyone interested.<< http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b157ca0f-083f-4957-9aa3-4da1de3dc20b&DisplayLang=en >> Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 19, 2008 What a great sky. It looks as if the clouds are going to converge on that poor SUV shivering on the side of the road. A stunning capture. Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted February 27, 2008 Wonderful sky for sure Doug - what part of west Texas is this? - I'm asking because I recently drove from Texarkana to near El Paso .... Curious too if you have, or have considered using a Graduated ND filter ? Also if you'll trade in this vehicle for say a 1948 Chevy pick-up you'll have ready made vintage post cards ... !? janisok 0 Posted February 27, 2008 NIce shot Doug!Just think some never look up! It would be neat with an older vehicle truck/car... Nice deep tones. J Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted February 27, 2008 Many thanks, Jeff, Ken, Janis. It was another gorgeous day in Texas. Jeff.... It was 101 degrees F., and Blue didn't want to leave the air conditioning :-) Ken .... I was heading North from a trip to Big Bend, and this was shot between Alpine and Marfa. I do have the graduated filters and probably 40 others but rarely use them now that the HDR process recovers almost all of the tonal range available with film. Truthfully, I never did like putting a flat glass filter directly in front of a curved lens as it alters the difffraction somewhat. Old habits die hard. And trade my F-150 Super Crew for a 48 Chevy pickup?????. I wouldn't trade it for an antique Rolls :-). Janis... I agree with both you and Ken. It would have been nice with something more interesting for a foreground. I thought about cloning over my truck but never got around to it. Link to comment
