robertbrown 1 Posted April 13, 2002 Comments, ratings, suggestions on this Yosemite snapshot appreciated. Developed and printed in home darkroom. Thanks. Link to comment
steve_azer1 0 Posted April 13, 2002 Great use of the 'rule of thirds.' The flow of this picture is very fluid! Link to comment
toni martin 0 Posted April 13, 2002 Wonderful image you shot here. Sure wish you had used Pan F50 on it. Link to comment
jimemerydotcom 0 Posted April 13, 2002 Well you must have done something right in the darkroom for your digitization to come out so well!Excellent composition--very nice use of "thirds"; tonality appears good on my monitor (Mac, gamma-corrected), though I might increase the contrast a bit in the sky to emphasize the wonderful clouds. I like the minimalization of the oft-shot waterfall within the frame; it adds a wee bit of originality to one-of-the-most-photographed subjects in history.Speaking of originality, I think I have about 2 "original" photographs to my credit, and while I strongly favor originality, and venerate innovators, there is lots of room for all the rest of us in the imaging world. joe_garrick 0 Posted July 11, 2003 Nice work. On originality... According to the National Park Service, 3,305,631 people visited Yosemite in 2002, and I'll bet just about every one of them grabbed at least one photo of this waterfall. It just seems grossly unfair to rate a shot of one of the most photographed objects on the planet for originality when it's generally accepted that the last truly "original" shot of this was probably taken decades ago. I judge the originality on the basis of how many of the 3.3 million snaps look like the one you posted, and I'd say probably not many. On the other hand, probably a good two million of them look like mine, shown above. Yawn. Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted July 3, 2005 Nicely done, Robert. I like this perspective and this is a great example of why the rule of thirds exists. Thanks for your comments on 'From Glacier Point.' Following your suggestion I did a color adjustment to reduce the magenta in the sky and clouds. Reworked attached. Mister Ken Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 6, 2005 Mr. Ken, thanks for stopping by. I think your color changes have improved this. Link to comment
mnigro 0 Posted January 29, 2008 I like this image. I'm puzzled by the 4/3 rating in light of the images posted by that rater. That aside, this is a wonderful picture which needs only to be dodged in the shadows of the bottom and lower left for better balance. Link to comment
