Cleft of the Rock, Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado

This is a closer zoom in on a small area from the previous image. I really love how that tree sits up there, growing strong, on top of a rock. I wonder where its roots go? Anyway - I'm not sure if the tree is prominent enough to make it the obvious subject of the image. But I was at maximum zoom and this image is cropped about 30%. Not too much more I could have done to get in closer with the equipment at hand.... Your thoughts?

Without getting closer to the tree, or being able to seperate it out of the background, I think the shot fails.

 

I struggled with a similar problem recently - a lone tree on a rock spike - the shot was there but I couldn't get to it.
