ben heaven 0 Posted February 15, 2008 Piotr, this is fantastic. I love the way you have retained the delicacy of the tones whilst still managing to introduce some dark shadows. The image has some punch. Can i ask if this is a crop from a single frame or a stitch? Just curious regarding your apporach to square compositions. Thanks, Ben Link to comment
thinhnguyen 0 Posted February 15, 2008 Excellent tone range from shadow to highlight. Link to comment
regis 0 Posted February 15, 2008 Thank you very much for your comments. Ben - it really depends. I usually try to avoid too much cropping as the resulting file is then too small for a decent size print. This one in particular is a stitch of 3 vertical shots (taken at a very wide angle). Beside the obvious benefit of having larger file I also wanted to emphasise the clouds formation / direction - to create more dynamic composition, and my wide angle lens helped me with that. michaelsaird 0 Posted February 23, 2008 Hi Piotr Your recent black and white images are really special. A question about this one - was this shot on a hazy day? It's very hard to tell what time of year it is, or even what time of day it is, which is very effective! I would have expected more 'punch' to the sky given that you've used a polariser (the foreground is quite a bit darker). This is not a criticism - just intrigued! Thanks, Michael. Link to comment
regis 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Thank you very much for all your comments. I really appreciate it. Michael - it was taken some time after sunrise, when the whole area was covered with a very dense mist - hence the mountain in the distance and the sky is a bit soft. I must admit I like it the way it is right now - especially the difference between the contrasts within the scene. This is another photo taken on the very same day (just few minutes before) http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6508617 I am going to post the colour version of the vertical shot so you'll see it more clearly, I hope :) Thank for your nice comment. I can see you've just started adding some photos to your pf. Can't wait to see more :) Greetings from Glasgow Link to comment
ronald_capasso 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Wow! I don't know that I've ever seen this kind of contrast in one photo... I mean from soft to strong. This is just amazing, a real technical and artistic achievement. Congratulations are in order. Seeya round campus, Ron Link to comment
