lonebearimages 0 Posted February 11, 2008 Man, you are the King of Layers! What a sublime composition. I spent hours in mid-September (on two separate days) in the Santa Fe National Forest above Santa Fe trying to find something remotely close to this - and failed miserably. The aspen boles in left FG really add so much to this; as does the big spruce on the right side. The layers from FG to back really pull the eye into this. I'm assuming you were on a road looking across a little swale or draw? Well done, Mark, well done! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted February 11, 2008 Thank you Anthony and Chris for taking time to comment. Chris, you are exacly right. This was taken from camp which is next to a gravel road and then a stream. It was not an obvious choice, but I like to scan certain scenes with a zoom lens to see what will get pulled into view. I was mostly influenced by the two darker bands in between the rows of aspen trees. The spruce on the right and the boles on the left fell into place as vertical frames. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 12, 2008 ...image and composition. Love the different colored bands in the image and how the birches on the left and the pine on the left 'break' these bands. Very well done! Link to comment
