pnital 36 Posted February 11, 2008 Life as a dance.... Choreography, Nimrod Thank for your feedback. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted February 11, 2008 Raw emotion - the composition, the negative space, and the graininess reinforce this feeling. Muscles rippling, and her legs...Pnina, this is awesome! Well seen, and captured. If I had a nit; it'd be that I'd like to see his left foot completely included; but I realize that this is a function of photographing the dance. Great work! Cheers! susan stone 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Life is a dance, from the first note of our cry, to the final crescendo of our death. All the darkness surrounding the dancers and the aggressive way he's grasping his partner makes this feel violent to me but if I open my heart to it he's catching her from a fall to earth.... adan1 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Dramatic, powerful and aggressive. In my mind this makes reference to the "Rape of the Sabine Women" theme. A fascinating capture Pnina. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Thematically, this exists nicely with your other photos that depict male-female struggle. I like how her touching feet mirror his hands. Tense, but thrilling. Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted February 14, 2008 ... is the list of people who post. I open this shot and see a group that would all be welcome to post anything on my portfolio. I join them in congratulating you on this very powerful shot. Interesting choice of lighting; in my experience most dance is heavily side lit but this seems to be a single spot from almost straight above. Was that a follow-spot or a fixed instrument? Which leads to the final question, was this staged for the photograph or part of the performance? Either way, I truly envy your access to such wonderful subjects. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 14, 2008 Chris, you are right about the leg, butI think that in this image it is not crucial;-)) Roger, thanks for the flowers ! WOW is great, but I prefer some words instead of this single one... LOL Armindo, thanks for your feedback ! Vladimir,I'm glad you connect to this human situation ! Susan, it is one split of a second of a whole choreography, very human situation.Interesting interpretation, I think that your last sentence is the right one according to the feeling I have recieved seeing the full creation. Adan, Interesting association, I'm familiar with that painting... and the story is that it is relations of rejection and acceptance. Human life situation in a dance..... Jeff, you are a psychologist isn't it life ? I connect to dances that are having human components in them. Dennis, the lights on the stage are the lights of the performance, (when it is photographed in a rehearsal I write it down). It is I who have to decide in a splite of a second which part I want to show in my interpretation of the dance and which of the lights on the stage I want to use( there are some). It is not an easy task, as the dance has many parts, I choose the scenes of it that I feel strongly connected to ,even if it was or was not the choreographer's intention.. Thanks to all of you for the thoughtful feedback. Link to comment
