Guest Guest Posted January 29, 2010 This series is really quite impressive both in its engagement with the woman, coming from you and coming through to the viewer, and with the technical expertise you are showing. The low key lighting and processing is extremely effect in setting the mood and in making these rich, deep, and suggestive. The way you've handled the brighter aspects is very beautiful, allowing for the energy of highlights to come through even in such a low key treatment. The pose here is very nice, her eyes so expressively looking back from her angled head. The lighting accentuates the curves of her face. Her hand serves as a very nice additional element, adding a lot to this. I am wondering about your sharpening technique? I know a lot of people these days like quite sharp results but I find it a little distracting in this series. You've got such beautiful and rich skin tones, the textural quality of the lighting and your post processing really makes me feel like I can touch her skin, but then the sharpening effect seems to hold me back a bit. Have you tried any with a much easier sharpening technique? What do you think? Link to comment
do_urden 0 Posted January 30, 2010 I think you're right. I am still in a experimental phase with sharpening. I wanted to do this on the edge of good impresion and intensive sharpening. This characteristical noise is a result of combining Neat Image with unsharp mask in PS. I did it because when I tried to use only unsharp mask it brings some artficacts, some unexpected effects. I want to learn how can I sharp image well without those distortions. Maybe there's some other software, that brings better effect, than usual PS methods. Thank you for any suggestions and critique Link to comment
