This image was inspired by Juha Kivekas a member on Photo.net. This is my attempt at light

painting. Your comments are welcome.

A nice attempt but your lighting is to hot on top. Also, it maybe my monitor but why didn't you show the side. Maybe a little fill flash or flashlight painting would help. If you had not divulged what it is we are viewing, I wouldn't have any idea what this is supposed to be. I do like the yellow.

Yes, the top is a bit hot. Especially the bright reflection. I didn't show the side because I wanted to keep the mystery. I have a couple versions that I actually painted a little on the side towards the camera. Those looked a little too much like a model.

Yeah... these are the kind of comments that come from too much reading of photo forums... What is the point of painting with light if you light the whole object evenly - the whole point is to SELECT what you want to show...

Did it ever occur to you guys that he may have been attempting to accentuate this part of the car? I know that what I LOVE about this photo as a GRAPHIC statement IS the isolation of the tear-drop shape... I would not change a thing - except maybe repeating this exercise with a real 917 someday:)

as a mater a fact it would have been way better if the lower part of the side would be in complete darkness. i would take an keep the wave line as a main effect for the photo. anyway how do you 'paint' with light? nice try Hansen.

I focused the camera first. Then turned off all the lights in the room. I set shutter speed to 15, 20 and 30 seconds and shine a flash light on the subject in a painting motion.
