Winter Fields & Fences

LenMarriott

Spotted on a recent field trip to the Horseshoe Valley area north of Barrie. Though displayed in colour, this one would work as well in B&W. Canon A540, 'P' mode, 1\640 @ f4. 5.8mm (35mm equiv) Handheld. Best, LM.

Len - you're making me cold. Will you stop with these snowy shots and go shoot in Florida or something? ;-)

Okay, I'll have to admit it's a nice shot....

Lou Ann, Florida? At this stage of winter I'm up for that. This day there was no wind & the temp. a balmy 35F. In this neck of the woods that IS warm. :-) Thanks for visiting. Best, LM.

Great shot Len! Nice contrast, lines and comp! It makes me want to get out. You have the ability to capture really good photographs without needing to go to exotic locations to get them.

Interesting angle,( like a Z...) done by the FG from R to L and continue with the fence from L that leads us into the space of snow and woods.I like it that the branches on the FG does not disturb the veiw. Good series of snow culture for a Middle Eastern like me, Len..... ;-))

Greg, Glad to see this has inspired you. Gotta admit it's fun once one bites the bullet and gets off the sofa. Good pictures can be made anywhere but I have to admit, at this stage of winter, 'exotic' is starting to sound appealing. Best, LM.

Pnina, I must admit, on a conscious level, the 'Z' thing got by me. I was concentrating on framing and including some diagonals (& keeping warm). Strange sky that day; the sun was trying to peek through but never fully appeared. What you see here is about as good as it got. Could use a middle eastern heat wave about now (Feb) though. I don't mean to sound complaining as we do get a good range of weather conditions over the period of a year. The trick is to enjoy the variety. Best, LM.

I wrote you there, thanks for your example and taking the time.

I love the quality of the light in your photo, it's that cold winter glow we know so well. Actually Lou Ann directed me to your portfolio. It seems that you and I are giving her the shivers so I came around to see what story was. Glad I came by.

Kim, Welcome aboard! Yah, the sun plays head games with us at this time of the year, promising to peak through and warm us up a tad, then reneging on that promise & leaving us still chilled & disappointed. Or, popping out for a brief period just a few minutes before setting at night with it's even colder temperatures. That said, the light quality here was appreciated. I made a lot of satisfying (to me at least) images that afternoon. Still, would it kill the weatherman to send above freezing temps once in a while through the winter? Thanks for taking the time. Best, LM.
