What I like about this image is that you have placed it in the portraits section for critique. Those hands do tell a story. Being honest, the image could be sharper and the hands could be better exposed. I suspect you let the camera chose the exposure and the predominance of white has left the main subject underexposed.

It really fits in the portrait category! not only a face can tell an interesting story...

 

I dont think that those dark hands are a big deal, it could be the skin tones of someone who has worked all his life in the country, or whose hands are that "dark"... Is not out of focus, right? it?s movement I think...

 

A little bit more underexposed on the top could be desirable... and then an amazing portrait...

 

Well, every frame in a roll is like original music to be interpreted, and here I opted for letting the hands being the most important point in the picture (or better said, remark it, because it's clear it is the focus point). In any case, her left hand appears darker because her right hand is stoping light from above. About the exposure, it's close to perfect (there is not such a thing as a 'perfect exposure). Please, do observe the blouse, with excellent tones of gray and the texture all along the jacket. Yes, there is contrast in the picture, but the Zeiss lenses work in this way.

 

And yes, you're right: it's a portrait.

Todo ya te lo dijeron anteriormente. Una imagen magnifica y que nos ilustra una gran vida y una gran historia. Me gusta muchisimo.
