Yaki Reuven is the musician which plays the music on the mandolins and guitars that Arik K. creates.here

A masterful musician.

Thanks for your feedback.

What a magnificent light you have here. I also am very fond of the vast dark space to the right and surrounding. Very fine work.

Pnina, A very dynamic, environmental portrait. Well placed in the frame with excellent use of negative space. Because of this the wandering eye is immediately pulled back to your subject. Kudos to the stage lighting crew and to you for having the eye & reflexes to capture it. My bet is that the larger the print the more dramatic this one would get. Any feedback from your subject? I've read that Karsh received immense benifit from studying stage lighting & it would seem that you have too. Best, LM.

Hi Pnina, being the long time picture taker that I am, One thing that stands out to me, is how well the exposure and contrast are presented here. This looks to have been done by a master darkroom printer.....Jim

PAULO, you are right it is not easy. needs a lot of experience, I learn all the time....

DAVID, I'm glad you like it with the negative space.

ROGER and DONNA, It looks that the playing hand is more inviting( than the tool creating one ...;-))

LEN, thanks for your extensive comment. Yes that was my aim, to let him have all the stage... Working with stage lights is a very difficult task, and as I wrote, I learn all the time. The musician , Yaki, plays in one of the dance group show( it is called "4X2",( 4 dancers, 2 musicians, another version of "Concerto" that was done with an orchestra),

I work with him as well, as he has a group of Barok music( and instruments) that I hope to photo this month .Two of my photos will be on a CD cover of dance music, he is planing to do soon.

JIM, so glad to see you here,be carful , take your time !

Thanks all of you so much for your feedback!

I too think that the dark space is good in enhancing the intimate atmosphere of the musician & his musical instrument within the circle of light.

Please, couldn't you try, just once, to make a bad photo ? Or even just not a very good photo ? One with bad lighting, or bad composition or even try an uninteresting subject ?

Just anything which would not make me feel like making a copy/past of how I admire your work, everytime I want to leave a comment ?

Joe, Cherlyn Laurent and Lou ann, thanks for your nice feedback !

Lou Ann, I understand your nit on the other, but the focus was on the hand especially.

This is a beauty Pnina. His position to the left of frame is very good and the fine detail in the image works well too.

Beautifully captured for maximum intensity, Pnina. Love the use of negative space to create an intimate feeling and added contrast. Your control on exposure, as Richard mentioned, is superb! Congrats.
