Orchids Take in open cloudy day. Light was smooth but was not bright enough. Played with Fill flash and exposure till I got the flower to my liking and BG under exposed to dark.Nikon D200, Nikkor 70-300 VR, @ 250 F10 @ 1/60 Center Weighted, -0.67 Fill flash if I remember correctly was -0.7Shot raw adjusted in CS3, USM, resized and saved for WEB as JPG. There was an end of a small stump in the BG that reflected flash I cloned it outEdit Delete Withdraw

you did a good job here with your lighting and taking them against a black background. They really stand out that way. However they seem to lack some sharpness. You got the colours just right. With pics like these though I want to "feel" the texture because that would make it a really great image. It would be worthwhile to experiment with that. All in all it's a very good job though.

I agree with the previous comment on this, Nice idea and good composition, DOF and colors, but the focus is a bit soft, I worked it a bit in PS and just a tad of unsharp mask seems to bring out a bit more details and the texture of the petals (see below). well done Iftikhar. Michel

I agree that the picture has a soft focus, but the newer version postet abov is just to hard to mee, I loses his magic (to me). May be overdone. See ya all
