In November, these hazy sunsets and long shadows happen in mid-

afternoon. Many a small dog is out for a stroll before the sun goes

down. Thanks for visiting Vicenza with me.

You have captured the light and the mood very well. The affectionate couple in the foreground focus the attention then invite the viewer deeper into the lovely scene. Well done. - Roy

Nice street scene..nice exposure and nice detail in the shadow areas of the photo. The highlights and reflections add a lot of interest...to bad the plastic tarp is on the building on the left side of the picture. Overall nice photo.

Nice image. I disagree with the plastic issue. Its a street shot, taken as it is and in fact a nice moment is captured, against the light, with very competent rendering of the tones, highlights and shadows.

Thanks, all, for taking the time to look. Believe me, the plastic was nagging at me as I took the shot... but anyone who visits these towns in Veneto will quickly recognize that sight. Everything is masonry. Buildings are not torn down - they are refaced, chipped-at, gutted and remodeled, but the bones always stay. Whenever one of these old homes is being worked on, they cover up the face with sheets of material. In some cases - especially with higher-end businesses or historical locations - they use a full-sized facade cloth that has been painted to resemble, in full scale, the way the building will look when it's complete. These projects - in cities that are centuries old - are part of the scenery. I could have cropped it (and the couple) out, but thought better of it.

You just keep rubbing it in. I'm certain your tax return will include income from the Italian Tourism Bureau. The light, the narrow street and tall buildings, the absence of motor vehicles, the foot traffic...all so enticing. I'm mystified how you can keep rationing these Italian shots so doggone gradually: when I have a bunch of great shots, I can't wait to get them posted. You're a cunning and patient man, Matt.

Tim, you kill me. I'd like to say that it's a Dickensian serial publishing model, but really... I'm just too damn busy! I make it a habit to plow back through earlier stuff - almost at random - to see what it might be fun to put up here. Italy really is a wellspring for these sights, and while I took lots of mediocre shots, some of these settings almost won't let you do so. So far though, no pay from the Italian Ministry Of Making Tim Want To Go There.
