Dear Andrea;

This is so amazing, exiting and impressive, like your all B&W photos... Regards.. Regards...

The composition is pretty classical for a photograph. The cropping is balanced, etc. Technically good. What I really like is that you have caught a natural scene with incredible ambiguity. Your title tells me exactly what is going on, but the mystery of the image is still strong enough for me to be caught up in questions about what is happening. I can't help feeling a sense of privacy being invaded. I think it is exceptional that you can observe the everyday and isolate moments that can become points of meditation like this. I could look at this photo for a long time because meditating on the content gives me insight into myself.

thanx to everybody.

john, the history of this pic is very simple... my sister bought a new apartment, i i was there (i'm architect) for some help. i had the camera with me, and i was showing it to my sister. the camera was fortunally set on A. suddenly i saw that, standing in the terrace all around the apartement, someone was cleaning the window, and inside there was that other worker. All this was very fast, i had just the time for shooting. If I had more time, i had exposed for the window with a little flash fill in, but no question...... for this reasons the pic is not good as quality, i had to work a lot the poor file jpeg with some sofference for him, but is real pic......

thanks a lot for the nice words

This is a really great photo. Actually I will go a bit further than John : I think that the title is giving a bit too much away : the photo is fantastic, and in a way, I believe that it may have been good luck that you didn't had time to change your setup too much : it creates a very dramatic situation. The half circle on the window, which, thanks to the highlights on the whole is creating a perfect circle, and therefore it doesn't matter if these highlights are overexposed : thery are counter balancing the dark part of the foreground.

We can't know they are workers : the hand seen through the window, not only looks a bit mysterious but also look threatening, and the character in the foreground looks like he is hidding.

It really look like it is a photo out of some horror movie. ( But then you beeing an architect, I believe that many times, having to deal with the contractors, may well be close to an horror story, and that for you the title is a scary title :-))

Bravo!

A presto

I liked this very much.

I believe, however, the title should have left us some ambiguity. As watchers, we are not very much concerned about the reality (they are workers etc.). If I can treat your image as a starting point, I can imagine a crime scene, for example. Another one may interpret this as someone outside trying to help the one inside who is perhaps committing something wrong...

Anyway, it is certainly a good idea to carry a camera with you wherever you go!

Regards,

bulent, thanks for your time. And i know you are right about the title. many persons said the same. but i hate titles, and i choose one only for have the possibility to identify the photo. i hate titles that drives perception, so i try to limit myself in a descrition. but now i will change the title, only in and out. ciao, thanks

I read all the comments and how you arrived at this picture , and i believe your quick decision is what made this a great image.

for years i found that random, unplanned images have taken over the best position in my collection of favorite photos.

In fact , if you had planned this, and become a "set designer", it would have lost its honesty, if not its aesthetic appeal.

Would the feeling been the same?

ciao from NYC

grande scatto..
