dennis jones 0 Posted January 26, 2008 QUADTONE layer and color layer blended together Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted January 26, 2008 The sun hitting the rocks out in the middle makes them look like bits of gold. That's my favorite part of this shot. I also like the depth you've achieved with those bold rock formations in the foreground and the mountains in the distance. Not as sure about the tones in the sky. The quadtones make it a bit murky for me, but that's being picky I suppose :) Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted January 26, 2008 I have mixed feelings about the sky.... Maybe go back and do the top portion a tad different... Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted January 26, 2008 Like gold growing out of the water!! It's beautiful!! The sky doesn't bother me so much but the little white speck in the sky does. Is it a bird?? A Plane??? or Superman?? But anyway - it's a gorgeous image!! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 26, 2008 It is really wild how you did this and the gold shadows on the rocks is so wild. The gold ones to the right not the ones that are so perfect in the middle but the ones that have the slight gow to them. The haze on the moutains is just perfect. This really is just gorgeous! Really do feel like I am looking at something out of a dream I had last night. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted January 26, 2008 I like Les' idea... I'll do a version two tomorrow and mess with the sky... Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted January 26, 2008 I'm thinking I would just blow the moon out of the sky. It's not really adding anything to the image. Now that's just my take on it - many others might think the moon is a necessary and lovely part of the image. Especially werewolves would like it. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 26, 2008 Oh, for cryin' out loud; don't go adding a werewolf (or Gumby) to this...Frankly, Amigo, I like this a ton. It has pop; great composition, superb light, and the reflections of the tufa pinnacles is worth the price of admission. My only nit, and I'm probably crazy, but it seems (to me) like the lake surface tips ever so slightly down to the right side. I think your sky and moon are copasetic. Well done, Graybeard! Cheers! Guest Guest Posted January 26, 2008 I like it. Don't like the moon. Normally... I would like the moon... but... I didn't realise I was being mooned until I read the comments. I think this would look great as a panoramic. I too get the feeling of the tilting lake... but... it could just be from the lines in the mountains and such... maybe just an illusion. Link to comment
JohnMWright 1 Posted January 27, 2008 I love the light and the blending. Excellent foreground and I love the golden light on the rocks, they just jump out at the viewer. Your post-processing is excellent. I find a moon a tad distracting. I really like the gradient effect in the sky. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 31, 2008 You Guys are Killin' me! ('Gumby howlin' at the Moon...' God, I can't believe I actually thought Gumby was pretty nifty when I was a little boy...in the early '60s) Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Keeps all of us young.... Plus we can take out any unwanted emotions on him... He doesn't seem to mind.......... Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted February 1, 2008 Chris, it is not your imagination that the lake water is dribbling out the right side of the image. Dennis, please straighten the horizon line when you add Gumby to the image. Otherwise I say it is perfect as it! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 10, 2008 Okay - I'm not in ya'll's warriors group, so I'm not supposed to be commenting on these shots. Will you please post this in your mono lake set so that I can comment on it!? Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted February 10, 2008 the group is just a few of us that exchange ideas and help. When I post on PN, it's for anyone one...especially YOU!... so go ahead and comment. We just try to post a new project every two weeks or so.... Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted February 10, 2008 We do them for all the critique, laugh, and sometimes go OMG what in the world DID they do here. We stretch or minds and our skills. Hopefully we have taught otheres through our learning process. I know Dennis here has taught me lots. Comment and critique away. In fact head on over to ALL of our folders and take a peek. You might have some great laughs/tears and just enjoy a few minutes moments of photography "warrior" like experience. :) ~ micki Link to comment
