Hello Rina, I like the idea, but I think the composition could be improved. The modern vase shape (and colour) in the oriental silver surroundings makes a great image. Get rid of the unimportant things...

IMO the petal on the table is distracting and unlogical.

To get a great composition I might consider the vase off centre and crop off a bit of the lower part. cheers Jana

Thanks Jana for your comment and your suggestions. Cropping a tad from the bottom, maybe yes. But I prefer to keep the petal. For this kind of picture I also prefer a centered position of the vase.

It must be great to be you and see things this way. It is great to be someone else, though, and see this after you've done all the hard work.

As usual this appears simpler than it it. The accent of the flower petal, almost like a tear drop, the slight wrinkle in the cloth, the two side shadows and the shadow beneath and behind the vase could all be "accidental", but they are meaningful. The slight curve of the neck of the vase seems made to fit the design behind it. The lighting integrates all of these elements which, after all, are only relate because you wanted them there.

In a photographic still life we arrange everything we can, but the "accidents" are really the flaws that make the jewel.

This photograph has power and grace. I think it would make a grand large print.
