jgalyon 0 Posted January 29, 2008 i think Jamie's assessment is on target...great technical quality, aesthetics great....if only... Link to comment
sigfridlopez 0 Posted January 29, 2008 I guess you're right on the composition here (too crowded). What I tried here, was to depict the repetition of the arches of both tombstones (one brighter, with the textures of the stone, one darker, on the background). I could not skip the cross in the middle without sacrificing something of this pattern. At the end, I decided to leave the cross - resulting, I guess, in this excess of forms in the picture. jgalyon 0 Posted January 29, 2008 Sigfrid, I always hesitate to offer advice about cropping because I know all too well from personal experience, that often... any number of circumstances force us to crop in a particular manner. It's what we viewers "don't see", that often tells the tale. Looking at the pic without matting doesn't do it justice either. By using a large mat...I think the "crowded" look will be aleviated quite a bit. Regardless...very, very nice work! Link to comment
sigfridlopez 0 Posted January 29, 2008 Wow, I guess you're right! I like large mats (here in this folder I tried to unify the style with similar black borders... but maybe I should change the idea). I like that feeling, with this white frame. Thanks a lot. (I'll have to review something in my portfolio, now...) Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted January 29, 2008 glad it might be of help...but of course, with the limited size of the photos we can post on site...the large matting might not work, but when actually matting a print...something to consider. :) Link to comment
