The stage lights are a strong factor while photographing dance and other shows while performing. This a slow sutter example... and the next is how it looks from the hall (the audience)

Please see large.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Brilliant, Pnina, delicately nuanced and full of magic. The imagination of the viewer is engaged and the dance continues even though the action is stopped. Its interesting to note that this is not a moment captured but a series of moments which gives the picture a cinematic feeling despite the original impression of a static composition. It's like opening up one of those little jewell cases with a dancing ballerina pirouetting inside.

This is so close to being abstract... without looking at the other image from the audience the dancer looks like a flower and the mandolin player and insect. Very nice use of motion. I like it.

This is very creative indeed...I think just the central figure with a black surround would work equally well.

All of you for your nice feedback.

Jack, funny that you have mentioned the box with the ballerina... I have recieved exactly this box as a present, from my Japanese friend...

Thanks, for your warm writing.

Creatively done and very appealing. The central figure is well framed and the turning effect is such an attention grabber. I echo Jack's ballerina comment.

Pnina, this is a really interesting use of stage setting and slow shutter speed. Although it is recognizeable as a dancer, to me, it looks as much like a moth fluttering between two lights at night!

Very Excellent!

I love Kirk's comment about the fluttering moth. I was thinking more of a tarantella between spotlights. This is one of those shots where I think "Hmmmm. I've never seen anything like this before."

This image is delightful and compelling. There are so many excellent and important components... I'll just mention the power of the two shafts of light, the contrast between the two side images and the central figure, and that aside from the dancer it's almost B&W. I'm also quite taken by the movement of the dancer you've captured. A whirling dervish, to be sure, and she looks like she's about to fly straight up into the light. I love this shot. Regards, David
