Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 21, 2008 A very different take on the dance and really a quite effective one. A forest of legs with the dancers heads obscured in the shadows. You just keep re-inventing yourself. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted January 21, 2008 The lighting, the hint of blur in the flying hair and elbows, the postures -- you've captured a real sense of rhythm. Fine work, pnina! Link to comment
j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted January 21, 2008 Pnina, You've created a mood with similar feelings that make the me want to walk right into the picture and dance there for a while. I like the lightings here. Shalom Link to comment

laurent-paul 1 Posted January 21, 2008 Don't ever shoot back of heads ! lit correctly faces and whole bodies ! Wait ... Why then is this photo working so well ? Could it be possible that breaking some of the most boring rules and re-creating new ones, as in here : composition, contrast, dynamics, could still produce original photography ? new / original / reinvention of the tools and personal visions and style ? But all the forums are telling us that Art is dead ... * very confused ... Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted January 25, 2008 This to me is one of your most outstanding dance images. I find it the most musical in the way that the light punctuates the dancers and translates to a rhythm to be found in the moving legs. This to me is least like a presentation of dance and most like a photographic dance in and of itself. It is very unself-conscious, meaning it doesn't feel like you were trying hard here, it comes totally naturally. There is both subtlety and blatancy in the lighting which is quite effective and stirring. I don't feel you as a participant as photographer, I just feel the photograph AND the dance and the merging of the two. There is counterpoint, accent, harmony, balance/imbalance, movement, and feeling, all elements that transcend a particular art medium and get right to the crux of the matter. I think it is exceptional work. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 26, 2008 As usual your eloquent way of wording is special in its expression, Thanks for your assesment. I liked the result in this one because they are not professional dancers , I photographed them at the youth dance festival, but they were good, and I liked the light and shadows in it, connected to the movement.. (I'm still waiting for the "Seed" magazine continuation.... when you find the time) Link to comment
