robert_tilden1 0 Posted January 20, 2008 Sure caught my eye! The colors contrast with the natural environment. Unusual lighting, that works. Link to comment
kuzem 0 Posted January 20, 2008 This is a very nice picture Paolo. The town looks very... unique. It almost looks like it will fall off and spill into the ocean. The only thing I don't like about it is all the dead space on the left hand side of the picture. I think the this could probably look better as a portrait. Just offering my suggestion. Do whatever you like though, it is your picture after all. Best regards, Max. Link to comment
paolo de faveri 1 Posted January 20, 2008 Thanks all for commenting, I appreciate that. Maxym, I took several pictures of this village from that point of view, landscapes and portraits, and with different proportion between sky and sea, village and sea, etc. I understand your point, but what I like in this composition is indeed the sense of space given by the large portion of visible sea. After all, this village looks to my eyes like a ship prow, heading to the open sea. I think the wide amount of sea supports this view. Don't you? Cheers, Paolo Link to comment
kuzem 0 Posted January 21, 2008 Sorry Paolo, I guess I forgot about the all important element of perspective. Maybe I only recommended a portrait because I knew what was out there. I like your use of imagination with the ship's prow, It really does look like it when you think about it. A quick question before I end my response. Do you by any chance use HDR imaging to achieve the tonal range in this shot, or any others you do? Its just that the idea has been bouncing in my head and I just wanted to know what it can do or whether it is even necessary. I've looked into using new techniques for my future shots and wondered if this is one I should consider. See ya, Max Link to comment
