Very nice image, Paolo. The reflections, swirls and colors are very appealing. Very nice Web site also!

I love this photo. It represents the absolute perfection I try to strive for. Absolutely every element of this is perfect, the lighting, shutter speed, and detail. I must have taken you some time to get it perfect. I'm practicing wide angle photography, but I don't live near mountains or beaches. What do you suggest I start to practice on.

Thank you all for your comments, I really appreciate them.

Maxym, I feel to suggest you to start from what you got. Neither I live near mountains or beaches. 50 miles to reach the mountains or 120 to the seashore might sounds like a short distance, but it's all a matter of available time.

Among my pictures, there are some that have been very appreciated by people and that were taken in a walking range from my house, and a couple of them were taken from my terrace!

It doesn't really matter where you live... how you see, matters!

If you care for your view, you listen to your sensibility and shoot accordingly, you will soon recognize some stunning subjects around you, something that many people pass by without noticing them, and that you, at a certain point, will see in a different way. "Photography is not about the photographed thing , but how that thing looks when photographed"

Not my words... unfortunately I don't remember who said that, but that's pure truth.

With friendship,

Paolo

I would certainly give very high marks for this capture. IT almost felt a bit hdr'ish but not as much there. While the light is so beautiful in the background, the churning waves, the motion, and the light on it is amazing. Another wonderful part is how you have captured the crashing of the wave in the bottom right hand corner. One nit-gritty point is the hazy reflection from the tip of the rock in the center, I would add more shadows to this picture, it somehow lacks a bit of it, and should probably also take care of that hazy reflection. I think the picture has lot of enjoyment to offer.

Much better than the NPN one you posted Paolo. Wow! This is totally stunning. That wave action and reflected light is captivating. Truly outstanding work with this location!

Lalit, thank you, I appreciate your critique. Now that you made me notice that, I think you're right. There was probably a drop of water - or some mist anyway - on the lens in that position that has produced that sort of hazy glow. I will work on that on the hi-res file, thanks again.

Marc, thanks, I'm glad you like it. Don't worry, I will post this on NPN too. Just have to wait a little, you know, 48 hrs... :-)

Yes, the place itself is outstanding, and I was lucky to have some beautiful light at sunset together with some movement in the sea. The following day the sea was very heavy, a spectacle of the nature... Unfortunately I had to get back home, however I'm pretty happy with the pictures I took there.

Cheers,

Paolo

Thank you for answering my question the way you did. Not many people would devote that much time to personally respond like that. You are completely right with what you said. I guess I had constructed an idea in my head where only vast, remote landscapes can produce beautiful prints. Thank you for making me remember that photography is meant to capture the aspects of beauty in life all around us, not just in exotic locations. It does not matter if you have a P&S or the an expensive SLR to take photos either, although it is easier with an expensive camera. I will explore what has always been around me with a more open eye now. Your work and words are very inspiring and I will continue to create my own photos using what is already around me.

Also with friendship,

Maxym

Hi Paolo,

I have already given this an award on another site, but just wanted to say it has it all for me, a real jaw-dropping image!
