BelaMolnar 2 Posted January 17, 2008 Very nice image. You managed to create an interesting graphic effect. I like it very much. Cheers; Bela Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted January 17, 2008 Thanks, Bela! It lacks a real focal point but there's lots of texture. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted January 18, 2008 OH NICE! I'm afraid to view it larger in case the snow falls off onto my keyboard!!! Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted January 18, 2008 Thanks, Shawn! This was our first real snow of the season--wet and windless so it really coated the branches. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted January 18, 2008 Nicely seen and made, Dave. Fine image. Regards... Link to comment
BelaMolnar 2 Posted January 18, 2008 Dave ! This type of image, subject, do not need a focal point. It is a whole image a focal point, as a texture, and in the main time, a lovely image with all those branches covered by snow. One more time! It is very nice image as it is. Cheers; Bela Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted January 18, 2008 Dave, I guess you might take a look at my BLONDE BLUEPDE Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted January 18, 2008 Stunning! I'd say your best ever, Dave. One can get lost in these branches. My husband says it would make an excellent jig saw puzzle :) Cheers ~ Link to comment
lostinspace 0 Posted January 19, 2008 I saw this yesterday and rated it pretty high, but I've come back to have another look today with a bit more time to study it. I have to say that I REALLY like it, and so have upgraded my rating to a 7/7. It's a beauty! Well done. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted January 19, 2008 Joseph & Ruud: I really appreciate your approval! You, too, Alberta (but your husband must have sadistic streak!:>) Thanks for coming back, Hugh: it's interesting how one's perception of an image matures over time--I find that true so often, I almost hate making judgments after only one look. Bela, you're right that the texture is what this photo is all about but I also think even the most elegantly textured photos need some sort of structural coherence. I took several shots in this attempt but it took a while to find right one and the right crop. I think the hint of arch here helps to orient and settle the viewer so that the high-contrast busy-ness doesn't overwhelm. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 20, 2008 Mother nature paints an abstract! I love how my eyes keep darting around the image looking at all the wonderful detail etched by the graphic lines of the snow covered tree limbs. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted January 20, 2008 Thanks for stopping by Susan! It is rather a visual workout, isn't it? This was a fairly typical Baltimore snow--wet, sticky and gone in a day or so. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 22, 2008 Yes, sir, a superb photo. The imagination to create a magical reality beyond the traditional and the cliche, and the technical ability to pull it off. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted January 22, 2008 Well, that made my day (and it's only 5am)--thanks! Link to comment
