Food Remains and Leaves

I like the tones and mood here. And especially how this photo made me unconfortable : Here is a fine traditional cityscape, and the trash is what any other photographer would have avoided. This is a subversive shot.

 

But then here is the proof of life. As the french writer Antonin Artaud said " where there is faeces, there is life ".

I think this shot is processed just perfectly. Dark, nicely saturated colors and a testament that man was there judging by the remains of waste. Such beauty in other peoples disregard.

Indeed this picture makes me also feel uncomfortable. The dynamic of the picture is such that my eye is drawn away from the trash, but it keeps flipping back to it. Ben

I could sit and study this image all day. For me, it exemplifies what perfect street photography should do: make something dramatic or interesting out of the usual. Great work.
