Awaiting Spring

LenMarriott

Canon A540, 'P' Mode, Auto ISO, 1\400 @ f4, 9.8mm (59mm equiv), Handheld. Fresh fall of snow (note the grass under the bench). Thought this scene worth the effort. Converted to B&W in PS via 'Channel Mixer'. Best, LM.

Very nice winter scene, as promised Len. I like the diagonal direction of the image . The bench in the FG ,and the houses in the back, connects the two to people! It is winter for people , but also the bare nature. As the direction is all diagonal , I think that the horizon will be nicer if it will be straight , ( PS) it will not change the other diagonals in the frame, but it is not crucial, it is a very nice winter image.I like your B/W conversion as well, very compatible, it is white but keeps nicely the forms in black...

Very pleasing composition and exposure. The entire scene is sharp and clear and the snow really looks like snow, very well done Len.

Spotted as I walked out the door at a relative's house, a capture of

opportunity! Thought it had enough merit to invest the time & effort

to record it. Your thoughts? Best, LM.

Les, Welcome aboard! Busy? Yes! It is what it is. No way to avoid the busy background except by getting up on the roof and shooting down. I chose to embrace the clutter. :-) Best, LM.

Gari, Thanks for your kind thoughts on this one. This shot proves one needn't spend all day looking for a decent composition. Sometimes they almost beg to be taken. This one took all of 15 seconds. Best, LM.

Great composition and BW, Len! It almost makes the chair lifelike, as though its watching the shrubs! Perfect exposure and contrasts too!

Greg, Thanks for surfacing. Good to hear from you again. I couldn't control the background very much but I don't think it overpowers the foreground, where my subject is, too much. Best, LM.

Babis, Good to hear from you again. Thanks for taking the time. A simple composition that I almost fell over on the way out the door. I too am pleased with the way this came out. Best, LM.

Alec, After enduring what is becoming a long & cold winter I offer you a trade for a couple of weeks. :-) Could use a little warmth about now. Thanks for taking the time. Best, LM.

This has certainly portrayed the coldness and the B&W gave it the starkness. All in all, it certainly craves for spring.
