Thanks, Mary. I guess I really do need to get me a macro lens: the 77mm delivers superb iq, of course, but it's real more of a portrait lens and I have to crop pretty severely to get down to this level of detail.

Speaking of ideas, I think this is a sensual if not overtly sexual image. It conjures up quite a bit for me in the realm of female symbolism.

 

I think it stands well as an abstract but goes further in being so suggestive, not just of the sexual but of many other possibilities as well.

 

I love the play of the yellowish color emanating from the center with the reflected light. In this case, your lighting harmonizes so well with the composition and structure of the plant.

Well, yeah, now that you mention it, I have to admit that's one of the ideas that came to *my* mind--and the spikes add a little edginess, don't you think? Thanks for noticing and commenting!

Thanks, Tomaso. I just tried to swap it out for a down-sized version but that doesn't seem to have worked. I certainly understand the frustration when trying to view portrait photos which are too large and am embarrassed to be a culprit.
