Not Here 93 Posted January 9, 2008 Great colors, reflections, soft light, and a shell beach in Florida. I thought the whole state was a sandpile :-). Good shot! Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted January 11, 2008 Mark, I really like the feel of this image. Very calming, and quiet. Something that I have found interesting is your use of the reverse grad. I have a three stop in my bag, that I have not used successfully since I purchased it some months ago. Is there any tricks to using this that you can share? - Thanks - Sean Link to comment
whydangle 0 Posted January 12, 2008 Thanks Nadia, Michael and Sean for taking the time. Sean, the reverse grad I am using here is a Daryl Benson 2 stop reverse with what I would call a hard transition. This is my my bread and butter grad for seascapes because the filter is most effective with a sharp, straight horizon. I go for the soft regular grads when I have an horizon that is irregular such as mountains. When using the Reverse Grad, if I need more stops, I will sandwich it with another 2 stop soft in a P holder that accepts multiple filters. I like using this filter because it is easy to see the grad line through the viewfinder when composing. Hope this helps! Link to comment

lonebearimages 0 Posted January 16, 2008 This is very satisfying to look at, Mark. Reminds me of the year I lived in the Bahamas (San Salvador). Something about beaches made up of tiny fragments of coral and shells. The light is awesome too. The various strand lines on the beach work well with the layering in the water. About the r-grad filter; I think there are times in my desert shooting when this could be useful too. Where does one find one of these? B&H? etc.? I've got a HiTech filter system (like a Cokin-P) with soft- and hard-edge filters. Anyway, this is another fantastic WhyDangle image! Keep up the great work, Amigo! Hey, I'm planning a full-moon trip to the Racetrack in Death Valley (3 days, 2 nights); want to go? Cheers! Chris Link to comment
