Tripod + locking shutter relaese cable 12mm f/8 75 minutes ISO 100 Pointed lens toward magnetic south, illuminated my sunflowers with an ordinary torch for approx. 10 seconds just before closing the shutter. Minor exposure adjustments in PS 2. and cropped a little off the bottom of the frame

This is my 3rd attempt at star trails in as many nights. Many thanks

to all who have provided tips and advice on these exposures in p.net.

I think the sunflowers need something behind them to improve their

context as a foreground subject matter? I'm happy to have a result

none the less!

A very good idea, I was thinking of this once also, but never made the attempt. This could be better if the sky had some colors, but I know there is little control over this with long exposures. I think that the sunflowers themselves are sufficient as a foreground element. Best wishes. Peter

I haven't ventured into the area of recording star trails with the digital medium, as yet...

Have you considered the image stacking approach?
