Moonflower Canyon, 12 Hour Exposure

chris_conrad

This is an 8x10 Polaroid 804 image, scanned, contrast-enhanced, reprinted digitally. Full Moon; 12 hour exposure. Original Polaroid is quite flat; I was hoping to get better contrast, but I still needed to work the image.

Originally shot on Polaroid 804, I've scanned, enhanced mid-tone

contrast and printed digitally. Part of my Ethereal Days, Season II

series. Thanks for your feedback!

... by photographing the Moon "differently". This gives me the feeling of being in the camera's place, just sitting there for hours soaking it all up. An odd thing I like about this one is the gritty look. Is that just in the JPEG, or on the original sheet? That would be really grainy for 8x10.

Thanks for the kind words. The "gritty" look is inherent in the original Polaroid. Sometimes they get a texture to them--I assume from the Chemistry, but the truth is, I don't know. Of course if was near freezing this night, and although the chemistry was safe and warm at home, the paper may have been affected by the cold, damp evening. ~chris
