Olympus OM-4. Slide film, likely Velvia 50 that was scanned to digital. Manfrotto tripod. Only manipulation on Photoshop was with brightness and contrast.

Being able to capture images early and late in the day on travel vacations is a rarity for me.

This was taken at sunset looking south. Your comments are appreciated.

Hi Larry, while this is a great capture as is, I'd consider cropping part of the sky as it distracts from the rest of the scene (IMHO). Maybe someday I'll get a chance to visit Oregon and see this wonderful part of the world.

I think the noisiness (grain - this is a transparency scanned to digital) happened in the scanning. I am surprised, because it was scanned by a top professional lab. Could the noisiness be a function of the time of day interacting with the ISO of the film? I have a 10x15 print of this that is also grainy.

Thanks for the comments.

This is breathtaking. Makes me want to hop on a plane and go wherever it was taken right now! You've really managed to capture the calm and tranquil atmosphere of this environment, and the colours are so deep yet so subtle and soft. Only thing I'm not liking so much is the noise. I think the ISO may have been a bit too high. Still, it's not very noticeable, and it doesn't detract from the overall appearance too much. You could also tilt it just slightly so that the horizon is completely level. Wonderful shot, though.

Anna, you are absolutely correct.  This is Canon Beach, Oregon on the coast.  I took this with film in 2005, hence the noise, and back then I wasn't as savy as we are today about level horizons.  I can go back and fix all this.  Thanks for your astute comments.   Best to you.   Larry

Katarzyna,  First, excuse me if I misspelled your name.  I appreciate your visiting my images.  This was taken in 2005 before I began shooting digital images.  It is a 35mm slide taken at dusk.  Since it's also on our wall, it continuously reminds us of our wonderful trip to the rugged Oregon coast.

Thanks again. Larry
