Most of these homes are closed up for the winter, the boats in dry dock, and until a day or two before I took these shots, there was a lot of ice on the Canal. There were a couple of warm days before I went shooting. Since then (12/26) we have had another cold spell, and I'm sure if I went up there again the Canal would be frozen all the way across.

Photographically, what are your thoughts? Enough color to warrant a non-B&W image? Are the reflections interesting? Well composed? Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Lou Ann, hmmmm I really enjoying the color aspect of this, not sure how the B&W would go. This is really quite nice. The reflection is a wonder to view, the stillness is created nicely! Regards, Doug

Thanks for the quick comment, Doug. It was a rather cold morning, and still rather early ... I'm sure that the wind kicked up ripples in the water later on.

For me, the still water and reflection make this a wonderful photo. I grew up in Tonawanda and your photos of the Buffalo area bring back fond memories.

Hi LouAnn,

Great reflections in the water. The colors of cottages add to make it an interesting photo. I prefer the color rather than black and white.....

Thanks for comments on my Anhinga. Hope to get back there soon to see what's happening...
