jgalyon 0 Posted January 5, 2008 I've attempted to capture this same type of grass in a decent photograph...several times, but have never achieved a result even close to this! very nicely done Allan. I want to see the remainder of the grass to the right...but it's obvious that would have resulted in an odd photo size. any thoughts on that issue? Link to comment
cjtj50 0 Posted January 12, 2008 I really like this, great work and the tones go so well with this type of grass! Take care Link to comment
awareness 0 Posted January 12, 2008 Thank you everyone for your compliments, I am very flattered. John, with regards to the cutting off of the "grass" on the right, that was done on purpose. I feel that too much symmetry often destroys something. This photo was actually shot in my living room using a nearby lamp for the gold tones. The grass I picked from a development nearby that had planted some sort of wheat looking plant. It is in a vase. I tried to make it look like outside but the background is actually a white livingroom wall. Because the plant is naturally bent it looks wind blown. Because of the low lighting I put the camera on a tripod and for detail I closed down the aperature. The exposure was relatively long but the plant was completely stationery so there was no problem with the long exposure. Thanks again. Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted January 12, 2008 completely understand the issue of symetry. i think it's the natural tendency for the viewer to see "all" of whatever the subject of the photo might be...but that choice quite often does not result in the best end product. :) Link to comment
