james c. williams 0 Posted January 17, 2008 Nice - it reminds me of ruins in Ireland. When composing a shot, I try to NOT put the subject in the center of the frame. Perhaps the background did not allow, but the sky looks interesting and if the image were framed with more sky and the subject to the side, it would be a more successful image. On a photo excursion in Ireland with John Eagle, he told to us to shoot so that each shot should be made with the idea that it is the last exposure you can make - whether it is the last frame on a roll of film, or that the battery is nearly dead, or whatever - before pressing the shutter release, walk around and look at the subject from different views. This is valuable advice when in a location you may never shoot again and I think it applies here. Link to comment
jkilgo 0 Posted February 10, 2008 Interesting landscape shot...I like the drama created by the clouds, and how you maintained detail in the shadow side of the stone structure...nicely done. Link to comment
lptem 0 Posted February 10, 2008 Very Nice job. Offsetting focal points is a good idea in many cases, as pointed out above. In this case, it is just as effective to have placed it (the ruin)where it is, as the sky in this shot has little interest. Must have been a beautiful little church in its day...keep up the good work. best wishes, lauren Link to comment
