A series of images. An interpration of a dance called "Alma"( an apple in the Turkish language). My focused experience is of the symbolic bible story of the forbidden apple.... with some added connotation.

Dancers: Shany Katzman, Yoave Grinberg. Choreography: Rachel Erdos

Thanks for your impressions.

"Eve" was my first thought. Amazing how these archetypal images are so deeply ingrained. Another great one from you.

Wonderful light, the way the light strikes the sides of the apples makes them look like phases of the moon. The biblical symbolism is immediate. The reflections on the stage add a nice depth to it all, giving a feel that all this is taking place whilst 'walking on water' and that takes us back to the bible again :)

Jeff, I have never asked(and should have...) why it is called " Elma". seeing the dance the biblical story was very clear to me, and I have photographed the parts that I immagined as how was the scene in the bible....

Joe, thanks for your always nice feedback.

Gord, nice interpretation, starting with the bible and coming back to it... even it is two different stories, and religions, they are related in the sense of people's faith. The bible is a part of hunan faith history developement, for me, but there are parts that are more strongly planted in human memory. Both the Garden of Eden, and Jesus walking on the water are narratives carved in human memory.( mythology )Thanks!

I had completely overlooked that the two 'myths' came from different " testaments" This just goes to show how much these stories are in the mind of the people of the world regardless of faith ... even people like me, who as an agnostic, never was much good at keeping track :)

I'm agnostic like you.... but I know the story of Jesus, from art history and because the Jordan river is here.... and I have tried walking on the water... lol( see me...)

LOL very funny. Since you are an atheist and not a Christian you won't be offended when I say " Jesus himself could not have done a better job of walking on the water " :)

I am not familiar with the Bible do didn't know the story but this image by itself is very well expressed with perfect exposure & gesture. I do agree that it makes one think of Eve.

A very compelling shot Pnina. I find her body position fascinating. Here she is carrying an apple in her mouth and if we associate this image with Eve then you can see that she has a submissive disposition. The way she bows her head is an act of obedience. The scattered apples remind me that temptation is everywhere and we sometimes succumb to it. I wonder where is Adam?

superb light and tone Pnina....it also made me think about Eve and the apple...real nice how time seems to be suspended and isolated...somewhere, sometime, once upon a time and the tale begins...

Adan, Thanks for your point of view, but to me she does not look submissive ,more like her starting the plot to give Adam the forbidden aopple....( after the snake convinced her....lol)Look at her feet, she is on her tiptoes.. looks like a stealth to the sleeping Adam....

Laurent, "once upon a time", realy fits that biblical story, and the long human memory....

Gord, you did not scare me....!start to practice...LOL
