These short-lived fungal structures pop up at unpredictable times

from a cluster of maple roots. Quick off-hand shot with a 50/1.8.

Not sure about the mushrooms that are half cut off in the foreground though. Would like to see what they are growing on.

I love the gorgeous colors and panoramic crop...the latter makes me feel that, rather than cutting off the mushrooms in the foreground, they just go on and on. The details are very attractive, and I like imagining you lying on the ground to get them! Good eye!

You may like the image of me lying on the ground, but I can tell you that I managed to find something that smelled very, very bad right near that tree. But such is art! Bird droppings, dog markings, and poison ivy are the happy price we pay. Oh, and apparently, don't eat these 'shrooms. Very bad for you.

Every week I find myself lying prone in snow, temperature in the teens or lower, to get that special point of view. From now on, I will think not how crazy or uncomfortable I am, but only how clean I am.
