Don't think I could have passed this shot up either! Well done. It could use a bit of a kick in contrast to give a bit more punch. (but that's just me) Best to you and Happy New Year, Al

That's a lot of birds! Cool shot. I like the subdued lighting. I just had an odd thought. I wonder if these birds are part of a wire-tapping system?

Great thought. Now I'm going to be paranoid all day. Yikes! Now I start to see what they meant when they say, "A bird in the Bush is worth two in the hand." Or something like that anyway. Happy New Year to you my Louisiana friend.

Lovely shot David. Strong framing and composition.

I think it would improve if you'd apply a gentle curves adjustment to improve contrast, as had been said before. Alternatively, I think it would also be great in B&W, or with saturation toned down a bit.

A healthy and creative 2008 for you and your loved ones, David! I've enjoyed your shooting and humor a lot, keep up the good work!

Best regards,

Frank

this is a lovely shot. Also a great display of geometrical shapes. I bet walking under the wires was calling for an encounter with flying bird poop. Nicely framed, and I like the treatment you gave it. What were they singing? Happy New Year, dude. Chirp, chirp, Micheal

I'm kind of deaf, but I think I heard them singing "I AM A Lineman for the County." It was a lot better than Glen Campbell's version too. A V8 new year to you man.

Like a giant crossbow pointed at the sky, or lines of music written by a somewhat confused composer, or maybe one of those modern graphic score composers. I like the look of the sky and the warm light hitting the post adds a somehow mournful touch to the scene. That could just be me though, as seeing the birds start to pile up on the wires around here means they are getting ready to migrate which further means that I'm about to suffer through another cold long winter.

I think you've hit upon what I found most likeable in this image. The warm late afternoon sun. It has such a wonderful tone to it (which I really did not capture all that well), but it also is indicative of the darkness that surely will arrive soon. On a purely literal level, we are so fortunate to be able to go into our homes where that warm light is at our beck and call. The bird on the wire is pretty much stuck.

Quite crowded !....they seem to be a show on the street :-) or do they get some rest before the long migration....very nice compo and colors....

I just came back yesterday from holidays....a pleasure to see your new posts...I read your email and really thank you David...I wish you and your family the best for 2008....

Thanks. I don't think these guys are migrating, but I might be wrong. I'm sure no bird expert. I have noticed that sometimes birds just seem to like to swarm. But don't you wonder why they would not settle in the trees where they would seemingly have more comfort and protection? There were lots of trees nearby, but they chose this rather stark regimentation.
