This is the very first picture that drew me to your portfolio. It seems even stronger now than it did then so perhaps my appreciation and critical eye have deepened some. May you have a wonderful year and may God and the angels protect you while you're leaning out the window snapping pictures from a moving automobile. Best Wishes, Jack

Thanks, Jack, thank you very much. I haven't been much present lately, but believe me some things never change and the exchanges and sharing we've had over the last two years mean a lot to me. But friendship is more than words can tell, I guess.

I wish you the very best for 2008.

Laurent.

P.S.: by the way, I put this one for rating but nobody even cared to rate it. Jack, off the record, I like this picture of mine, so thanks again!

To hell with them. I'm eternally disappointed with the ratings I receive (or don't). Whatever the raters are looking for, my pictures don't have it. But that's fine, because when I look at the pictures that receive the highest ratings they seem to be invariably 1) macros of bugs; 2) nature pictures: flowers, birds, wild animals, etc 3) nudes 4) romantic hallucinations or pictures that have been manipulated within an inch of their lives, the kind you might find at some resort gallery next to the Miro prints, paintings of whales and dolphins off the coast of Maui and the sculptures of Anthony Quinn. I see in these photos self-assurance, confidence and certainty but seldom that small crack from which questions and doubts issue but which is the doorway to another place of deeper vision. The world, its known realities and its rewards must be left outside, they simply won't fit through the portal.

Laurent, it is a very nice image even without the red car, but being there, is a nice colored bonus. good DOF, woderful light and shades of green/yellow.

Best wishes for the season.

Okay, now you're up to two ratings. Mine is not generous, it is sincere. This is a gorgeous photo, complete with perfect colors, as happy as they get, and an offbeat composition that makes this infinitely interesting.

Thank you so much. These are the kindest ratings I've ever received and ones I will be the proudest of. Jack, I hope you'll be back soon, you know...and Kent too. I wonder what he's been up to lately. And Matthias, and Laurent J. All of you are such talented people.

I saw this picture a while ago...interestingly I enjoy it even more now...such an interesting composition where the red on the right is balanced by a large field of green/yellow...I really like this space/division of colors...

Laurent, I've just noticed something here. That's quite embarassing, but, here it goes: you weren't supposed to rate this image with a 6. Only 7s are accepted here.

Yes sorry....we Swiss people are always too much reasonable...:-)...I enjoy this photo whatever the rate Laurent...I like that you take this rating thing with humour and detachment...like me...
