Len,

It's a very nice shot; I especially like the hints of fall colours coming through, and how the curve of the pool is answered by the curve of the path. Mine is too close in -- I was standing on a park bench anxiously trying to use a roll to see if my new 'toy' was performing adequately. It was the last frame. What I like about it is the path leading out of the frame. Yours gets the path from a different direction. I would prefer the front to be in focus and the frame to be less crowded. I'll be back there in the spring!

Great colours, by the way. What did you shoot this with?

Rob, How fitting that you, living in the same city, should be the first to offer comment on one of my posts in this new year of 2008. That alone should qualify you for a free coffee should our paths ever cross. This is not the first time I've photographed this location but in my opinion it is the very best result I've ever obtained. I believe you were standing on the bench this one shows behind the fountain for your posted photo. I suppose, for yours to have the depth of field you desire, your camera would have to be set to a very small f stop; then, because of the resulting slow shutter speed, you'd also need a tripod. Easily done! Give me a heads-up when you're planning on being there & we'll meet. (& you can collect your coffee) :-) My 'Details' will show that this one was taken with a Canon A540, 1\250 @ f2.6, handheld (5.8mm - 35mm equiv., wide open). The great DOF is inherent in these small sensor P&S cameras. (even wide open the DOF nicely covers this shot - note the leaves in the upper left corner). Best, LM.

Took my time with this one. Tried to arrange all the major elements

in a pleasing way. I'd be most interested to learn how you're

approach would improve this image, either pre or post exposure.

Best, LM.

Oh!! Thanks for the pointer. I would totally find peace and quiet here. (Even if I had to push the snow off of the benches....) :-D

Lou Ann, There are goldfish in the pond in the summer & fall. I wonder what they do with them in the winter? Thanks for your interest. Best, LM.
