I was hoping to see some images from the mid-west ice storm.

Nine days w/o power, hauling water in five gallon buckets to flush the toilet, wood burning stoe and kerosene space heater..........

If you hadn't found a "cold" shot, I was going to be surprised! :) Still amazes me how beautiful something so destructive can be! Thanks for sharing this.

Dennis - you nailed the assignment (but then you had no excuse not to! hahaha) This is really beautiful - the colours trapped in the ice are so vibrant still so it seems strange to see everything ice covered. Did you try a closer crop on this? I wouldn't mind seeing a closer crop giving it a more abstract quality. It's so beautiful!

Jan, great crop...usually I'm the one suggesting a crop, but I didn't catch it here...the crop really focuses on the beautiful color and patterns, Dennis. Moves the shot from documentary to art. :)

I struggled with this... First, it's not as sharp as I like. Second, this is about a 50% crop... I have to agree...one of my shortcomings is getting the "art" out of the photograph...
