regis 0 Posted December 21, 2007 A brilliant (and very cold) morning in the Scottish Highlands. After a long time of a completely hopeless weather there was a chance for some long awaiting change. I was quite fortunate to be in the field when it happened. In the background you can see one of the most recognisable peaks here - famous Buachaille Etive Mor. Please view the larger version. Your comments / critiques much appreciated. Link to comment
allydea1664881724 0 Posted December 21, 2007 Beautiful image. Not terribly original if we don't take into account the river, but it's wonderfully composed and executed technically. Our respects! Maybe without frame it would be better.. or maybe it's just my recent trend to drop framing. :) Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted December 21, 2007 Wow, not only a beautiful shot, but you must have had company there on the same (or near to) day... Shot posted earlier today. :-) A little humor, but an excellent capture by both of you! Mike Link to comment
regis 0 Posted December 21, 2007 Thank you very much for your comments Alina & Alex - unfortunately this area is heavily explored, so it's quite difficult to come up with a completely new composition. I must say I was trying to find some decent scene and was totaly absorbed by these ice fringes on the river. Couldn't resist not taking this shot :) Michael - hehe, wow - it looks like the same day to me :) Tnaks for your comment. Link to comment
jwo 0 Posted December 21, 2007 Even though the shot is not terribly original, it was well executed. The white balance seems to be right on (the white snow is unmistakably white), and the positioning of the creek draws the eye directly to the mountains. I like the ice fringes too, it gives a little something extra to the composition. Link to comment
yttergaarden. 0 Posted December 21, 2007 Oh, it dosent matter if its heavily explored, as long as you get a result as this. This is very nice - Lovely scenery, great light/colours, nicely composed and with the ice and sun on the stones - Yes its success. Regards LKV. Link to comment
newfocus 0 Posted December 22, 2007 Agreed - it's well photographed but this is a very worthy addition IMO. Great conditions and very well handled highlights on the ice. John. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted December 22, 2007 Wonderful image. The river leads my eye nicely into the mountains. Great DOF and your composition is spot on! Link to comment

tim parkin 0 Posted December 25, 2007 http://www.joecornish.com/products/view_product.asp?catid=160§ionid=1&page=5 It is an excellent location for a shot and despite the similarities I like the picture a lot. My main comment would be the lack of interest in the sky... Link to comment
regis 0 Posted December 25, 2007 Tim - I really love the work of Joe Cornish. Having seen the photo in his album ("First Light") I had this scene in my memory, trying to capture something similar. Unfortunately, for a really long time I never had a chance to find some decent frosty foreground to compose the shot. Finally, when the time had come - I was there in the field. I had absolutely no idea I was going to find exactly the same spot as Joe did, and I think it was just my natural instinct to choose/use it. I also agree that the sky could be more dramatic, but taking into account the fussy weather in the last couple of weeks time, I am quite happy about the result anyway. Thanks for your comment Tim Cheers, Piotr Link to comment
