Matt Laur 2,201 Posted December 21, 2007 Just over a century ago, strength and a bit of flexibility in steel was still achieved by folding together metals of different types. This particular barrel is a masterpiece of that craft. Thanks for looking and comments welcome. Link to comment

Matt Laur 2,201 Posted December 21, 2007 Thanks, Steven. This was taken on the fly in someone's kitchen, looking over their shoulder as they ogled this fine old gun. I'd love to have a chance with the piece in a studio setting with control of the light, but sometimes those as-found shots are more compelling. This was a beauty, though, and demanded a shot on the spot. Link to comment
timkeller 0 Posted December 24, 2007 It takes some skills to catch a shot like this on the fly. Beautiful steel (and hands) and great capture. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours, Matt. It's good knowing you. Link to comment
Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 27, 2008 Obviously a beautiful gun, and a very interesting shot too. I'll like to see it with the fore end attached, bet that's just as elegant. Link to comment
