My lovely wife, on our church wedding night, decided to experiment

with a creative hairstyle, one that served its purpose, for she

truly did look radiant that day, but one that damaged her hair

beyond repair, so that she was forced to cut it almost to the roots.

On the night she cut it, she came home all doom and gloom, but

somehow, I convinced her to pose for this series, for I KNEW that

her beauty was something that did not depend on physical details,

but had a depth that is at once immediate and yet timeless.

A poignant and lovely portrait, perfectly made. (I wanted to give it a higher rating but was denied). Happy Holidays & warm regards, Joe

A great tale to go along with the image. I'm not sure I would have responded the same way you did, but I commend you. The pose and composition are very good.

How goes it, my countryman? I've been off PN for a while now, but intend to come back posting with a vengeance in 2008.

This one is my favourite of the 3. I think it's because of the visual contact that her left eye offers, which seems to clearly communicate her mood as you've described it. As usual, you've employed excellent lighting for this composition.

Let me also take this opportunity to extend greetings of the season to you. May the lord bless you and your family abundantly, and may he exceed your expectations in 2008.

All the best to you, my friend.

Sincerely,

-Ade

What a gorgeous shot of your wife. The context explains the expression, but that look is truly universal. This approach hearkens back to your vase pictures. A thing of beauty emerging from darkness.

Wonderful shot, beautiful woman and a photographer who never lets an opportunity slide by. I don't think I have to wish you good luck for 2008, emmanuel, it appears that God has showered you with blessings and that you have the good sense to appreciate the gifts you have been given - a sure recipe for happiness. May your happiness deepen in the coming year. Best regards, Jack

Emmanuel, what a beauty of a wife shown so well in her sad face.I understand her sadness, but her beauty is what I see . well composed , and well lighted.

Man, women and their hair! You caught her feeling perfectly with good lighting and tonal range from the dark to the light. The dark certainly isolates her and helps convey the isolation of lamentation.

I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
