of the two photos you have submitted, i like this one the best. The subject and treatment are hardly original as we have all seen (and attempted) this effect before, but the mood is what makes this photo compelling to me. Maybe the grain is what brings out that etheral mood. I've noticed this kind of grain in many of your pictures, and it seems to bring out a strong emotional response for me, but i can't really articulate why it is so. The composition is interesting and dynamic, I like the sinuous line of water curving downward, splashing light through the frame and creating a nice contrast between the dark solid world and the bright fluid one. The branch in the foreground though is a bit distracting but that's really a minor point. Well done. Regards - michel

Ditto what michel said, and I believe the monocrome nature of this picture fits the style you are going for here. I enjoy your style. - Mike

Michel... i wish that i could say that i have more of an overall vision for my photography, but truth is...it's generally a moment by moment endeavor. i think it's more accurate to say that i have "tendencies" rather than that i have an actual "style"...e.g., the use of grain (you mentioned) and a fondness for dark, moody shots. agreed...the branch is distracting. in spite of the "impressionistic" style (someone else's words) of the shot... i sometimes have this tendency not to remove original parts of the scene. doesn't really make sense i suppose...since i've distorted the living hell out of everything else! ;) thanks for the analyisis... your comments are always helpful (very sincerely ...very helpful)!
