Guest Guest Posted December 9, 2007 Intersting contrast in the softness of the white snow atop the hard, ridged quality of the stone. Well captured. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 9, 2007 Much appreciated Danny! Having visited your portfolio (nice photos!), I can understand why this caught your eye. Where you can find it more or less undisturbed, aging snow has a distinctive quality and interacts with its environment in interesting ways. Link to comment
macartney 0 Posted December 9, 2007 I think I like it. The color tone and crisp surface of everything work together with the black backlground. It works very well. The cement has a painterly quality to it. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 9, 2007 Thanks for taking a look! I'm still mulling this one. I've got several versions of this in my New Stuff" folder--and there may be more as I try different adjustments. Link to comment

shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 9, 2007 Thanks for your comments. I'm still mulling alternative presentations but after a night's sleep I'm feeling more comfortable with this. When I learn how (I know it's not difficult) I think I'll remove that gray spot on the snow which may or may not be sensor dust. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted December 10, 2007 Well seen and well made. A fine image. Regards... Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks Joseph! I was out running errands but just had to get in a shot or two (needed a photographic "fix") and this presented itself. Link to comment
godfather 0 Posted December 14, 2007 Very fine piece, like the dark mood. This original is the best of these which you have here. I was just thinking did you do something for that background (Dark as h...) or did you catch it like that. Either way, interesting work. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 14, 2007 Thanks for taking a look at this, Tero! Interesting that you picked up on the dark background because that was something of a pleasant PP surprise. The background is forest and was a bit distracting (I'm attaching a clip of the original) but it just disappeared when I darkened the image. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted December 16, 2007 Thanks for taking a look and commenting! Snow generally doesn't hang around long here but can be really interesting visually as it fades. Link to comment
