snapshooter 0 Posted December 7, 2007 Colorado's Great Sand Dunes are quite spectacular on their own, but when it rains in those background mountains, this very shallow river flows from them for a few hours. Then it's gone until the next rain. Just dumb luck, as we hadn't seen any rain on the way. The sky colour was produced with a split screen Tobacco filter at time of shooting. Link to comment
sketch_tbhotmail.com 11 Posted December 7, 2007 This has great potential in that the composition is nice, the effect is cool, and the scenery is breathtaking. However, it doesn't look like its really in focus. I'd recommend a tripod and smaller aperture (f/16-f/22). Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted December 7, 2007 Thanks Ryan. I didn't expect to get the original sharpness as it's a scan from a small poorly stored print. I ran it through Pure Image to remove noise and softened the edges at the same time for this effect. It covers the texture of the silk matte paper from the original. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted December 7, 2007 This pretty terrific, as it is! I think the most eye-catching element is the vanishing point of the river bed; it just sucks you in and up to the center right, and right to the base of the mountains! Fabulous tones throughout. This is very artistic, and I'd like a large print mailed to me at the following address...Excellent work, and thanks for bringing it out for all of us to see. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted December 10, 2007 Quick silver and molten gold! I know the place well but have never seen it rendered in this way. A fine, intriguing image. Regards... Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted December 10, 2007 Ah, yes, to get in a time machine and return to this scene with a Canon D5.... If only wishes were horses! Still, an inspiring effort, and one appreciated by those of us who lived before the Digital age. Fine work, my friend. Link to comment
eye of the lens 0 Posted December 12, 2007 Hi Doug. When were you in Colorado. You should have looked me up. Great find and beautiful light. Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted December 13, 2007 My brother lived in Denver and Glenwood Springs for many years, and I was in Colorado every summer from the mid 70's to late 80's. It's a beautiful State with unlimited photo ops. Have you ever been up to Hanging Lake, just East of Glenwood?? Link to comment
